An assignment staffs a consultant on a mission. It pairs a consultant with a billing rate, a start date, and an optional end date; no end date means the assignment is ongoing. Rates vary per consultant and per mission, which is why pricing hangs off assignments rather than missions.
Assignments are created and edited from the Assignments section of the mission detail page. Only admins can create, edit, or delete them.

Double-booking protection
Overlapping assignments for the same consultant are refused by default: if the proposed dates intersect an existing assignment for that consultant, the save is refused. Accounts whose plan includes the split allocations feature may have overlapping assignments for the same consultant.

What assignments drive
- Consultant status - a consultant with an active assignment shows as
Active; without one, asBench. - Timesheets - each assignment overlapping a period becomes a line on that period’s timesheet.
- Staffing forecast - future loading is projected from active assignments. See Staffing.
- Mission actuals - validated days are valued at the assignment’s billing rate for revenue and at the consultant’s daily cost for cost. See Missions.
My assignments
Consultants with a linked profile see My assignments in the sidebar: a read-only table of Mission, Start, End, and Status, newest first, with no pricing. Rows show ongoing when an assignment has no end date. An empty state tells them an administrator will assign them a mission.
Being assigned to a mission triggers a notification that leads straight to this page. See Notifications.
